About the course

This qualification is designed for those wishing to work in the plaster board fixing and/or finishing sector of the construction industry, and provides a means of recognising current competence for those already in the industry.

Holders of the qualification are able to fix and/or finish plaster board products in construction in the workplace at production rates established by industry. Qualification requirements include safe working practices in an on-site environment.

Those who work with fixing specialist plaster board systems can also be recognised by the Specialist optional strand.

The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation is responsible for other qualifications that have credits in common in the areas of health, safe working practices, handling construction materials, scaffolding and basic tool-use, allowing people to move more readily across sectors of the industry.
