About the course
This qualification is designed for those wishing to work in the fibre cement linings sector of the building and construction industry, and provides a means of recognising current competence for those already in the industry.
Holders of this qualification are able to fix or finish fibre cement lining products in construction in the workplace at production rates established by industry. The compulsory section covers core construction techniques and knowledge related to the manufacture and storage of fibre cement sheets. The Fixing Strand covers knowledge of fixing fibre cement sheets to interior surfaces, interior and exterior ceilings, and architectural details. The Finishing Strand covers knowledge of stopping and finishing simple and detailed fibre cement areas on site. Qualification requirements include safe working practices in an onsite environment.
The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation is responsible for other qualifications that have credits in common in the areas of health, safe working practices, handling construction materials, scaffolding, and basic tool use, allowing people to move readily across sectors of the industry.
