About the course
The National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 4) with strands in New Zealand Environment, and International Environment is designed for people delivering and assessing in adult education and training environments. The qualification has been designed for people who are seeking a general entry-level qualification in the adult education and training field either within New Zealand or internationally.
The qualification has the flexibility to accommodate different personal, work, and skill requirements from across the National Qualifications Framework.
People awarded the New Zealand Environment strand of this qualification are able to identify the diverse cultural and educational needs of adult learners and establish an inclusive learning environment for adult learners within New Zealand, with particular focus on the Maori and Pakeha cultures of New Zealand.
People awarded the International Environment strand of this qualification are able to teach and train adult learners in learning environments outside New Zealand and are able to establish inclusive multicultural learning environments for these learners.
Core Elective 1 reflects competency in the delivery of adult education and training and open, flexible, and networked learning. Core Elective 2 allows people to gain credit in areas such as delivery of adult education and training; adult literacy and numeracy education; design and development of adult education and training; evaluation in adult education and training; assessment of learning; open, flexible, and networked learning, and Te matauranga Maori whaiti (Adult Maori Education and Training). Core Elective 3 allows people to gain credit from anywhere on the National Qualifications Framework.
There are no prerequisites to entry. This qualification may stand alone or lead on to the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 5) with strands in New Zealand Environment, and International Environment [Ref: 0379] and/or the National Diploma in Adult Education and Training (Level 6) [Ref: 1549].
