About the course
The National Diploma in Career Practice (Level 6) provides holders with recognition of the core skills and knowledge for people who wish to work in the career industry in any of the following pursuits: Career Counselling, Career Management, Career Information Development, Career Research and Development, and Career Education. People who work in these positions require an in-depth knowledge of career development theory, career interventions, counselling techniques, and have demonstrated the ability to apply this knowledge in a range of contexts.
The compulsory section covers advanced skills such as self development, career assessment tools and techniques, career development theory, counselling techniques, ethics, consultation with clients, tikanga relevant to Maori clients, group facilitation, report preparation and relationship management.
The elective allows the candidate to focus on working with specific Career Practice clients such as Maori, Pacific Island, migrant and refugee, and individuals who have barriers to employment.
The National Certificate in Career Practice (Levels 4) [Ref: 1586] and the National Certificate in Career Practice (Level 5) [Ref: 1587] are designed to provide a pathway to the National Diploma in Career Practice (Level 6) [Ref: 1588] but they are not prerequisites for this qualification.
