About the course
This qualification is for people who are employed in leadership roles in the State sector and who aspire to senior leadership roles. The qualification is aimed at experienced first line managers or team managers, middle managers, and senior managers early in their career. This qualification covers core leadership skills and knowledge and also includes standards that enable people to exhibit their leadership skills and knowledge. People will be at the stage of career development where their future need is for leadership abilities rather than operational management, service delivery and technical abilities.
People who hold this qualification may enhance their promotion prospects within the State sector. This qualification enables candidates to enter into senior leadership development programmes or tertiary management and leadership programmes.
This qualification is a part of Learning State's suite of management and leadership qualifications and complements other Learning State management qualifications including the National Certificate in Public Sector Services (Leadership Development - Middle Management) (Level 5) [Ref: 1019]. There are no prerequisites for this qualification.
Other entry points into this qualification include the National Diploma in Public Sector Maori with strands in Management, Policy Advice, and Service Delivery [Ref: 0953], the National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) [Ref: 0649] and the National Diploma in Business (Level 5) with optional strands in Accounting, Finance, Finance - Maori, Health and Safety Management, Human Resource Management, Maori Business and Management, Marketing, People Development and Coordination, Project Management, Quality Management, and Systems and Resources [Ref: 1498].
