About the course

Create beautiful environments and characters and use these assets to develop immersive experiences to share with people in an industry that is bigger than the music and movie sectors put together. From 2D platformers to 3D brawlers, you'll be devising and creating your own interactive stories, digital illustrations, concept art and games that will be viewed by an international audience of game enthusiasts. Within the first sixteen weeks of your first year, you'll have created your very own 2D game and, by the time you've finished your degree, you'll have collaborated with other game artists and programmers alike to develop an industry-level game.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 42 NCEA credits at Level 3 with at least 2 subjects scoring a minimum of 14 credits over a maximum of 4 subjects. A minimum of 12 NCEA credits must also be achieved at Level 2 English and 14 NCEA credits at Level 1 mathematics. Candidates should also have a minimum of 24 credits at level 3 NCEA Art, Design or technology subjects, or Equivalent qualification of above for an example Cambridge International Examinations, or Have successfully completed a Media Design School Qualification, Level 5 or higher or Have successfully completed a qualification from another discipline, Level 4 or higher or Discretionary entrance, where the applicant has significant art and design skills and experience.
