About the course
The Graduate Diploma of Counselling Practice is designed to meet the needs of other professionals, who require a qualification that enables them to continue working, or gain new employment in the counselling sector. In addition, it provides an opportunity for the many workers in human services, not designated as counsellors but needing counselling skills, to obtain them. Students will have the opportunity to develop counselling competencies under supervision in real workplace situations. They will be able to review their developing competence, and respond reflectively to the need for personal or professional change. Following completion of the required hours of supervised practice, students will meet the requirements of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) criteria for provisional registration.
