About the course
Open the door to an apprenticeship or get work as a labourer with this hands-on qualification.
Develop your industry knowledge and skill – from workplace safety, communication and construction terminology, to mastering calculations and basic building technology in a safe and supportive environment.
Complete real-world carpentry projects and graduate work-ready with this Construction Trade Skills (Carpentry) Level 3 programme.
In this carpentry course, you’ll build the skills you need to work safely and confidently in construction. You’ll learn how to follow safety rules on a worksite and communicate clearly with your team and others in the trade. You’ll also learn to read and understand building plans and use basic maths to help you complete projects accurately.
As well as this, you’ll focus on carpentry skills and knowledge. Learning about different building materials like timber, concrete, and steel. You’ll become familiar with construction and installation work, as well as important carpentry tools and terms.
Next, you’ll practice joining techniques and learn how to plan and build in the right order. Finally, you’ll develop the skills to check and report on your work, from the first stages of construction to the final finishing touches.
Entry requirements
Must be 16 years of age or older and a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
