National Certificate in Drainlaying (Installation) (Level 4)

About the course

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the construction industry with individuals who have the knowledge, practical skills, and ethical and legal considerations to install drainage systems.

The qualification is a prerequisite to registration with the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board as a licensed drainlayer, therefore all standards listed are compulsory.

Holders of this qualification are capable of operating independently in installing drainage systems which includes establishing line, level, and gradient, and excavating, trenching, and restoring. In addition, holders are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in: use of drainlaying tools and equipment; safety, emergency requirements and environmental practices relating to drainlaying activities; good work habits, customer services and relations, and ethical be behaviour; job requirements; the interpretation of drawings and specification; as-built drawings; and apply mathematics relevant to drainlaying.

Holders of this qualification could progress to the National Certificate in Drainlaying (Design, Management and Supervision) (Level 5) [1831].
