NZQF Level 1

About the course

This qualification is an entry level qualification intended for people who require specialised support with their learning. They are people with learning disabilities, including those with an intellectual disability.

Graduates will be able to self-manage participation in social, cultural, family/whanau and community contexts, with supervision and/or be encouraged to seek further skills and knowledge to improve their educational and employment pathway.

There is an optional strand for those candidates who wish to gain specific skills and knowledge required for the workplace.

This qualification recognises the aspirations and cultural identities of the disabled communities, and that of Māori and Pasifika.

This qualification allows the Aotearoa New Zealand community, employers and educational institutions to recognise the graduate's potential to enhance their participation in the community, as a contributing citizen.

About the provider

MSL is a foundation training provider which has helped thousands of people into employment or further study since we began in 1998, when MSL Training was established in Papatoetoe by Paul Marks and Ralph Fairbrother. Both realised the need for sales education and as a result the first course introduced was retail. It was a small class of 8-10 students and a room was hired at the Allenby Motor Inn in Papatoetoe.

Paul and Ralph soon realised their students needed more skills and training and in 1999 MSL Training Group Ltd was formally registered as a Private Training Establishment specialising in foundation education. We ran courses in our specialist areas of computing, business, hospitality, literacy and numeracy, and career coaching. So we know how to help you get into employment or on the pathway to further training.
