About the course
Holders of this qualification will have the skills to source and interpret market information and wool pressing requirements, supervise and monitor wool harvesting, and plan and adjust the grading of wool.
All standards in this qualification are compulsory because wool pressing contains a set of well-defined skills and knowledge that apply across all woolsheds.
Candidates must already have completed the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 3) [Ref: 1058] prior to award of this qualification. People must have completed the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Entry) (Level 2) with the Learner Wool Handler Strand [Ref: 1546] prior to award of the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 3) [Ref: 1058].
The aim of the National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Entry) (Level 2) with Strands [Ref: 1546] is to provide candidates with broad transferable skills such as occupational health and safety, work and study skills, and general agriculture, in addition to introductory wool harvesting skills.
One of the two standards in this qualification is also included in the National Certificate in Wool Classing, Shed Classer Strand [Ref: 0998].
The National Certificate in Wool Harvesting (Wool Handler) (Level 4) [Ref: 1548] is part of a series of qualifications developed for the wool harvesting sector. A qualification pathways diagram can be found at the end of this document.
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation supports the concepts of continuing and lifelong education, and encourages people to consider future options on completion of this qualification, including other qualifications in Agriculture or other industries.
