National Certificate in Manufacturing (Core Skills) (Level 2)
NZQF Level 2

About the course

The National Certificate in Manufacturing (Core Skills) (Level 2) is an entry level qualification for people employed in manufacturing. Manufacturing forms the basis of many different industries, and therefore this qualification is suitable for trainees from a variety of sectors.

The qualification contains four sections:
. The compulsory contains core manufacturing skills and basic workplace health and safety, which are common to all manufacturing industries.
. Elective A allows candidates to select the manufacturing process skills relevant to their particular industry along with appropriate standards from the Competitive Manufacturing domain. The Material Management domain is also included to allow skills in distribution in a manufacturing environment to be selected.
. Elective B section offers a range of specific skills required by individual enterprises.
. Optional standards have been included for use where additional support in literacy, numeracy and basic employment skills are required.

This qualification can lead on to a number of manufacturing qualifications provided by each of the partner Standard Setting Bodies.
