Course details

National Certificate in Intermediate Scaffolding (Level 4)
NZQF Level 4

About the course

The skills and knowledge in the National Certificate in Intermediate Scaffolding (Level 4) are built upon those already gained as a first level scaffolder and recognise those of a second-level scaffolder. The National Certificate in Intermediate Scaffolding (Level 4) is designed to equip a second-level scaffolder with all the necessary skills and knowledge expected within the industry and is therefore comprised of a single compulsory selection of unit standards. People who are awarded this qualification can plan, erect and dismantle complex scaffolding structures. These people can also assure the compliance of the structures and lead a scaffolding team.

This qualification is a prerequisite for the award of the following classes of endorsements within an Advanced Certificate of Competence in Scaffolding, as specified in the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995:
. C. Barrow ramps
. F. Catch nets
. G. Hoists (load not exceeding 250 kilograms)
. J. Mast climbers
. L. Scaffolding associated with perimeter safety screens or shutters
. M. Sloping platforms
. N. Spurred scaffolding.

Candidates should note that the Department of Labour or its authorised issuing agency

(the Skills Organisation) may apply additional factors in relation to the award of the Advanced Certificate of Competence in Scaffolding, such as experience requirements. For more details please refer to http://www.skills.org.nz
