About the course
People credited with this qualification will have the skills to: plan, prepare for, conduct, and review an RDA session for a rider; supervise mounting, dismounting, leading, and sidewalking riders for RDA; clean and maintain saddlery for horses; care for stabled horses, prepare horses for travel, and load and unload; recognise signs of health and ill health in horses; know how to deal with an emergency; erect temporary electric fences; prepare a horse for exercise; lunge and ride a horse; communicate and listen effectively; protect their own health and safety; and administer first aid and CPR.
People will also have knowledge of: the RDA; common medical conditions and adaptive equipment; and basic human nutrition.
All standards in the qualification are compulsory as RDA assistant coaching contains a set of well-defined skills that are applicable across all RDA centres.
This qualification leads to the National Certificate in Equine (RDA Coach) (Level 5) [Ref: 1606].
