About the course

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the aeronautical engineering industry with graduates who are able to enter the workforce in a variety of aeronautical engineering contexts, or progress to further training. Graduates will be equipped with a comprehensive base of core Aeronautical Engineering skills and knowledge that will prepare them for further training and qualifications in Aeronautical Engineering.

Entry requirements

Placement tests covering English Comprehension, Mathematics, Physics and General Engineering Knowledge, plus a face to face interview. 

Candidates must be NZ Citizens or Residents.

Students study the Level 3 Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering, this is a pre-requisite qualification for a traineeship with Air New Zealand, and most other Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul companies (MRO's) in New Zealand.

Employers of graduates include Air New Zealand Engineering & Maintenance, Rocket Lab, Airwork, Defence Force, Hamilton Jet, CHC Engine Centre, TerraCat & Mission Aviation Fellowship.
The 36 week full time programme is delivered in both Auckland and Christchurch.


To be offered a place on the programme, candidates need to pass a placement test comprising assessments in English, Maths and Physics as well as an Interview.
