NZQF Level 2

About the course

This qualification is for people who require the skills and knowledge to become a basic sewing machinist. It has been designed by industry to recognise achievement in elementary sewing skills attained either through an accredited training provider or in industry.

The compulsory section ensures that all holders have knowledge of industry skills and workplace practice. The elective structure of the qualification allows trainees, providers, and employers the flexibility to tailor programmes to meet individual skill needs.

This qualification provides a basis for further education and training leading to either the National Certificate in Clothing Manufacture (Commercial Sewing Skills) (Level 3) [Ref: 1162] or the National Certificate in Clothing Manufacture (Basic Garment Assembly) (Level 3) [Ref: 0824]. The qualification pathway chosen will depend on whether the candidate is training through an accredited provider or in industry.
