About the course
This national certificate recognises the skills and knowledge of an introductory scrap metal recycling worker.
Holders of the qualification will be able to identify and weigh scrap metals, and work safely in the scrap metal industry.
The qualification structure acknowledges the diversity of scrap metal companies and the nature of the work they undertake. To reflect this, the qualification includes elective sections from which people can select skills and knowledge relevant to a specific workplace.
This qualification leads to the National Certificate in Scrap Metal Recycling (Operations) [Ref: 1285] and thereafter to the National Certificate in Scrap Metal Recycling (Nonferrous Purchasing) (Level 5) [Ref: 1286].
