NZQF Level 3

About the course

This qualification recognises the skills of a cross-section of industry personnel who implement the principles of zero waste in the workplace. The holder of the qualification is able to demonstrate general understanding of zero waste and resource recovery principles and practices that may be implemented in a workplace.

The qualification structure recognises the complementary knowledge of resource recovery theory and zero waste principles.

The compulsory section comprises standards that cover understanding of zero waste principles and practices.

The elective section comprises two parts. Set A comprises standards that assess understanding of resource recovery theory. Set B provides a choice from the full range of registered standards. This is included to meet individual needs in achieving useful workplace skills.

This qualification may complement the National Certificate in Resource Recovery Operations (Level 3) [Ref: 1347] and may lead to the National Diploma in Resource Recovery (Level 5) with an optional strand in Cleaner Production [Ref: 1349], or the National Diploma in Zero Waste and Resource Recovery (Level 5) [Ref: 1346], or complement qualifications in other industries such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries, computing, commerce, construction, demolition, engineering, health, manufacturing, and retail.
