About the course

This qualification is for people in the fire protection industry, whose work involves either the installation of fire sprinkler systems, or testing of fire sprinkler systems and special hazards fixed fire protection systems. All standards from the compulsory list and from either one of the strands are required.

The qualification covers skills and knowledge in the following areas:
. fire protection principles and industry knowledge;
. engineering measurement;
. fire sprinkler systems installation and testing;
. first aid, resuscitation and safe working practices;
. trade mathematics skills;
. customer service;
. communications and report writing.

The qualification can typically be achieved in the course of a two-year traineeship or apprentice programme. It leads to the National Certificate in Fixed Fire Protection Systems (Level 4) [Ref: 0570] and the National Certificate in Fire Protection Systems Technology (Inspection and Testing) (Level 4) [Ref: 0864]. People who have completed this qualification will already have significant credits towards the National Certificate in Fixed Fire Protection Systems (Level 4) [Ref: 0570].
