About the course

This qualification is for people in the fire protection industry, whose work involves the installation, commissioning, testing and servicing of fire sprinkler systems and special hazards fixed fire protection systems. All standards listed are required.

The qualification covers skills and knowledge in the following areas:
. fire protection principles and industry knowledge;
. engineering measurement;
. fire sprinkler system installation or testing;
. first aid, resuscitation and safe working practices;
. trade mathematics;
. customer service;
. communications and report writing.

The qualification can typically be achieved in the course of a three or four year traineeship or apprentice programme. It leads to the National Diploma in Fire Protection Systems Technology (Certification of Fire Safety Systems) (Level 5) [Ref: 0867] and the National Certificate in Fixed Fire Protection Systems (Level 5) [Ref: 0865].
