About the course
The skills and knowledge recognised by this certificate include a combination of advanced technology, supervisory, and small business management areas, together with substantial in-depth knowledge on all aspects of arms legislation, and the safety and security of arms.
People awarded with this qualification are able to use their technical knowledge and skills in diagnosing faults, overhauling and testing a diverse range of firearms. In addition they will be able to supervise and advise others on all aspects of Arms legislation, safety and security of arms, and technical matters relating to Gunsmithing. Holders of this qualification are likely to have considerable experience in Gunsmithing, own a small gunsmithing business or are likely to aspire to such ownership. They may also be involved fully or partially in the conservation and restoration of arms in general. People working on firearms or parts of firearms are required to hold an A Licence for General Firearms.
This qualification will lead to qualifications at level 6 and above which have yet to be developed.
