Drone Pilot Aerial Asset Management Rating
Course details
About the course
The Aerial Asset Management (AAM) Rating qualifies drone pilots to apply cleaning products, chemical or non-chemical, to buildings and structures. Think roof treatments, house washing and building maintenance. DroneTrust can take you from your first pilot certificate through to a fully rated AAM operator.
There are two versions:
- AAM Rating for pilots whose work includes chemical products
- Restricted AAM Rating for non-chemical products only, which doesn't need a Chemical Rating and suits both Part 101 (under 25kg) and Part 102 (25kg and over) operations
If you already hold the qualifications leading up to it, you can take the rating assessment on its own. Starting from scratch? The full AAM Pilot Pathway covers:
- Drone Pilot Certification (Part 101 or 102, as applicable)
- Chemical Rating, where applicable
- Drone type rating
- Autonomous flight planning
- Practical flight training
- UAOC induction and OCA, for aircraft 25kg and over
- Supervised and unsupervised flight experience
- The AAM Rating practical assessment
Because pilots arrive with different experience, cost and time to completion vary. We'll help you map out exactly which steps you need.
You can start any time. The theory parts of the pathway are online, and practical training and assessments are booked with an examiner as you go.

Entry requirements
For the rating assessment on its own, you'll need a Part 101 or Part 102 Pilot Certificate (Part 102 with a UAOC and OCA for aircraft 25kg and over). For the standard AAM Rating you'll also need a Chemical Rating.
If you don't hold these yet, the AAM Pilot Pathway includes them. Examiner travel costs are not included.
