About the programme
Online, evening delivery with industry experts. Starting February 2027.
This is a part-time, work-aligned programme for those already engaged in a workplace or community group that owns or manages infrastructure assets. Delivered part-time over two years, the study commitment is approximately three evenings a week.
You’ll need approved access to a suitable asset management system and asset portfolio to complete the programme, and an employer who is willing to support you undertaking this study. After graduation, roles could include Asset Manager, Technical Specialist or Asset Information Officer within a diverse range of industries and settings.
Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Asset Management Scholarship This scholarship is intended to assist a member of Āpōpō (Infrastructure Asset Management Professionals Incorporated) who wishes to study the GDIAM at Otago Polytechnic, and who shows the ability and character to succeed in the field of infrastructure asset management. This scholarship will contribute up to a total of $10,000 towards course fees over two years (2027 and 2028) of study in the Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Asset Management.

Entry requirements
The minimum academic entry criteria is an undergraduate degree or degree equivalent practical or professional experience. In addition to meeting the entry criteria outlined as above, the following criteria also applies: All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those applicants whose first language is not English should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall Academic score of at least 6.0 issued within the last two years with no less than 5.5 in any band or equivalent. Otago Polytechnic's English Language Requirements for Ākonga nō tāwāhi/International Learners and those for whom English is an Additional Language also apply. For NZQA's minimum English language entry requirements, go to NZQA: Appendix 1: Internationally Recognised English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students – near the bottom of the page. Additional entry requirements: Negotiated access to an appropriate set of assets and an asset management system is a requirement for this programme. Typically, this will be within a workplace context. The appropriateness of the assets and access must be agreed to by the Head of School.
