Design Handmade Accessories

About the course

This course guides students through the creative process of designing and constructing handmade accessories from scratch. Participants will follow the principles of the slow fashion movement to explore idea development, fabric selection, and handmade construction techniques to bring their original designs to life.

With a focus on sustainable fashion, highlighting craftsmanship and personal expression, the workshop encourages experimentation with shapes, textures, and finishes, resulting in unique, handcrafted pieces.

Students will be encouraged to work with a range of materials to reimagine their textiles through methods such as applique, shibori, fabric manipulation, and surface embellishment.

Note: This course requires students to supply their own discarded clothing, preloved fabrics or fabric offcuts.
