About the course
Build your confidence and capability as a barista in just three weeks — from the basics of coffee through to working efficiently in a busy café environment.
You’ll gain an understanding of the global coffee industry while developing practical knowledge of espresso machines, key ingredients, and drink recipes. Alongside this, you’ll build essential café skills, including taking and managing orders during service with confidence.
This is a hands-on, practical course using commercial barista equipment, supported by experienced tutors who guide you every step of the way.
Assessment is portfolio-based, and on successful completion, you’ll gain credits toward NZQA unit standards, which will appear on your Record of Achievement.
This course is ideal if you:
Want to work as a barista and gain a recognised qualification Already work in hospitality and want to formalise your skills with credits Are running, or planning to start, your own café or food business Want a strong foundation before continuing into further hospitality study
Entry requirements
Open entry to learners 16 years and over. There are no minimum academic requirements.
For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required.
