About the course
Start your hospitality career with this practical, hands-on course, designed for learners new to cafés and hospitality. It is also ideal if you are already working in the industry and want to sharpen your skills and build real confidence.
Train in our real café-style environment where you learn by doing. You'll learn the art of barista work and café service, developing the skills that turn a good coffee into a great customer experience. From dialling in espresso and texturing milk, to managing service flow and engaging with customers, you'll build capability that employers value. Every session is focused on building practical, job-ready skills for entry-level roles in cafés and hospitality settings.

Standard Entry Criteria
Admission, entry, selection, and enrolment into programmes will be in accordance with the Academic Regulations and/or, where approved, specific programme regulations.
For courses at levels 1-3, domestic and international students will be required to:
Provide evidence of ability to complete academic requirements.
Other Considerations
Limitations may be imposed on student numbers for this course due to health and safety factors, and space constraints which restrict the number of students who can be accommodated in the commercial kitchens, café/restaurant and barista facilities.
English language requirements
Level 3 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
