About the course
New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) is an entry-level qualification for people who want to begin a career in the health and wellbeing sector. It prepares you for support roles in areas such as healthcare, aged care, and disability services.
In this programme, you will learn the essential skills needed to provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support. You will develop your understanding of how to work with individuals in a caring and professional way, while recognising the importance of dignity, cultural awareness, and effective communication.
You will build practical skills that are directly relevant to the workplace, including supporting daily living activities, following health and safety procedures, and understanding basic infection control. The programme also introduces you to professional responsibilities such as maintaining boundaries and recognising and reporting risks.
As part of your learning, you will complete work experience in a real health or wellbeing setting, giving you valuable hands-on experience and helping you apply your skills in practice.
By the end of the programme, you will be ready to take on entry-level roles such as healthcare assistant, caregiver, or community support worker. This qualification also provides a pathway to further study in health and wellbeing.
