About the course
Micro-credential Overview This new Micro-credential is a short, NZQA recognised programme aimed at experienced support workers specifically in the Home and Community Sector. Learners must be employed by community-based providers who offer community care and use the interRai* assessment tool. The Micro-credential focuses on helping ākonga learn how to carry out non‑complex support plan reviews with older people living in the community, using Māori world views as a guiding framework. *interRAI tool: Accurately determines the characteristics of a person in order to fully understand their needs, ranging from clinical to social support and prepare a care plan.
Graduates will be able to:
Explore and summarise different approaches for completing non‑complex support plan reviews. Understand and summarise the risk and escalation procedures involved in these reviews. Conduct support plan reviews in the homes of older people, ensuring the process is guided by Māori values and perspectives.
Prerequisites Learners need to be working in a relevant sector. Learners are also required to have reasonable computer literacy as micro-credential assessments are only offered online (via Aka Toi). Learners must also have achieved the following: Qualification (achieved):
NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3 (any strand); AND/OR NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) Level 4 (any strand).

Unit Standard 23925; Unit Standard 26974; OR Unit Standard 28563.
Learning and Assessment Resources Learning is online only via Aka Toi for community-based care providers who offer community care and use interRai assessment tool. Learning includes interactive face to face training session as well as videos, and quizzes to be completed prior to final assessment.
