About the course
Do you want to become a builder? This qualification is for anyone wanting to start out in the construction industry who doesn’t have an apprenticeship. You will get hands-on experience building projects and gain skills to operate power tools and hand tools. When you graduate, you will have entry-level skills to enter the construction trade as a carpentry/building apprentice or labourer working under supervision. Tool kit supplied You will receive a tool kit of equipment you need to complete your studies. Please note this image is not an exact representation of tool kit supplied. Entry requirements
General
Open Entry if the delegated authority at the campus/site is satisfied that the applicant has the capability to complete the requirements of the programme.
English language entry requirements
Applicants for whom English or te reo Māori is not a first language are required to provide proof of English proficiency.
The required level of proficiency for this programme is IELTS (General) score of 5 with no individual band lower than 5 from a single test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules.
Domestic learners who have completed the majority or all of their education in New Zealand are deemed to have met this requirement.
