New Zealand Certificate in Marina Facilities (Level 4) with strands in Boatyard Operations or Marina Operations
New Zealand's marinas and boatyards are busy hubs where vessels are launched, hauled, maintained and stored – and skilled operators keep everything running safely and efficiently. As an apprentice in marina or boatyard operations, you'll learn the skills to keep waterfront facilities operating smoothly, from vessel handling and hardstand management to customer service and maintenance coordination.
Working alongside experienced marina professionals, you'll develop an awareness of operating specialised equipment like travel lifts, forklifts and boat trailers, while learning safe vessel launching and retrieval procedures. You'll gain hands-on experience in, water safety and yard safety, boat lifting operations, biosecurity and environmental and customer service, compliance and teamwork. As you progress, you'll build understanding of environmental compliance, safety regulations and facility maintenance – from managing wastewater systems to maintaining security and coordinating haul-out schedules. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll become part of a team that keeps New Zealand's boating community connected to the water, ensuring vessels are handled with care and facilities run efficiently year-round.
As a work-based apprenticeship, you can earn while you learn. You'll need to be employed in the industry to train on the job as you work toward your trade qualification, and MAST Academy supports you throughout with a dedicated Training Advisor.
