About the course

The Graduate Diploma in Construction and Facilities Management is aimed at professionals working in facilities management who hold a non-FM-related tertiary qualification. For example: engineering, commerce or science. It provides an educational route for FM professionals to progress into more senior leadership roles in the industry.

The structure and content of the qualification is designed to build on your existing knowledge of the operational maintenance and management of built facilities. It ranges across the many and varied core skills required by facilities managers.

What will you learn?

You will gain the skills and knowledge to organise, control and coordinate the strategic and operational management of built facilities, environment and support services. The qualification covers 4 main knowledge areas: legal, management, technical and professional. It reflects the many and varied core competencies FM professionals need.

Admission to Massey

All students must meet university entrance requirements to be admitted to the University.

Specific requirements

To enter the Graduate Diploma in Construction and Facilities Management you will:

  • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree, or equivalent; or
  • have been awarded a Diploma in Facilities Management and have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience; or
  • have been awarded or qualified for an advanced diploma or associate degree, or equivalent, and have completed at least two years of relevant professional experience.

You will need to provide copies of all official academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

English language requirements

To study this qualification you must meet Massey University's English language standards.

This qualification is classified as NZQF Level 7 and requires the same English language standard as most undergraduate bachelor degrees, diplomas and certificates.

Time limits for Honours, Distinction and Merit

If you complete this qualification within the stated time limit and to a high standard, you may be able to graduate with Distinction or Merit.
