What you will learn
This programme is designed for ākonga who are seeking to develop a range of foundational technical skills and conceptual knowledge to produce digital creative works. As graduates of this qualification, you will have developed a range of creative capabilities in preparation for further study.

This programme covers courses in:
Graphic Design Studio
Learn about the core principles and elements of deign such as composition, typography, colour theory and visual hierarchy. You'll gain hands-on experience using physical and digital design tools to create visual communications across various media.
Digital Media: Game Design
Learn the basic principles of game mechanics, storytelling, and player engagement. You'll explore prototyping and playtesting to develop your own original game concepts.
Time-based Media 1: Animation
Learn the basic principles of motion, timing, and storytelling through animation. You'll gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software while exploring techniques such as keyframing, character movement, and scene development.
Time-based Media 2: Screen Design
Learn how to create dynamic visual experiences by combining movement, sound, typography and imagery. The course focusses on designing for digital screens, exploring how these elements work together to engage and communicate with audiences.
Entry requirements
Domestic
To be eligible for entry to this programme, applicants must:
Provide evidence of suitability based on a portfolio of work and;
- NCEA Level 2 (including 10 Literacy credits at Level 1 and 10 Numeracy credits at Level 1);
- or equivalent academic achievement;
- or on a case by case at the discretion of the Programme Manager.
