Want to be an electrician?
Becoming an electrician is a great career choice with lots of exciting opportunities.
This apprenticeship programme delivered by EarnLearn Te Pūkenga offers quality training and support.
You’ll do on job training where you’ll learn in the workplace alongside a supervisor, and off job training where you’ll attend electrical theory classes at our Dunedin or Central Otago Campus. You will have an account manager to support you throughout your learning journey.
During this programme, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work safely and competently with electricity. As an apprentice, you’ll earn while you learn and get ready to be able to register as an electrician in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Entry requirements
- You need to be at least 16 years old to become an electrical apprentice.
- You need to have at least a restricted drivers’ licence.
- You must have achieved National Certificate NCEA Level 2 Maths and English, or have equivalent skills and knowledge.
Please note: You need to find an electrical employer who is willing to take you on and support you through the apprenticeship.
