MIT Certificate in Plumbing (Level 4)

About the course

Students will graduate from this programme holding a current Limited Licence Certificate as a Plumber issued by the Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers Registration Board. Graduates will further be able to carry out unsupervised a range of tasks within the scope of the Limited Certificate to: Understand and apply regulations pertaining to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Carry out basic First Aid and have developed appropriate computing and communication skills. Apply relevant AS/NZ Standards, Codes of Practice as well as requirements of the Territorial Authority and the client when carrying out the manufacture, installation, repair or maintenance of any plumbing, gasfitting, drainlaying or Roofing work. Select and integrate appropriate material types, sizes and durability for each project. Select and integrate appropriate fittings, fixtures, equipment, appliances, valves, pumps and water storage facilities for each project. Install, integrate, maintain, repair and manufacture as appropriate: Foul water systems, Potable water systems, Water heating systems, Sanitary appliances, Roofing work, Flashings and water proofing of the building envelope, Storm water drainage systems. Join a range of materials by welding, brazing or soldering, use sealants, adhesives as well as joining components and pipework by propriety methods of screwing, crimping, bolting and fastening.
