This programme is ideal for people wanting to gain a basic understanding, the skills and the confidence to pursue further education in a supportive environment. The NZ Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways [Level 3] provides you with the perfect stepping stone for study at Level 4.

Programme Outline

This programme is for people intending to pursue focused development in the skills, capabilities, knowledge and attributes needed to succeed at Level 4 or above, within the context of the social services and education sector.

You’ll learn study and communication skills along with how the social services, education and health sectors work in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Please note: part-time students will be strongly advised to complete the core courses before they enrol in any of the elective courses.

Entry requirements

  • Achievement of NCEA (Level 1) or an equivalent qualification; or
  • Evidence of a level of literacy sufficient to:

– be able to study at this level, and

– interpret and apply health and safety requirements.

Literacy and numeracy skills are embedded in the programme.

Computer literacy is highly recommended in order to be able to cope with the digital components of the courses.

English Language Entry Requirements

All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those applicants whose first language is not English should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall General or Academic score of at least 5.0 with no less than 5.0 in any band or equivalent.

Entry with Credit

Standard EIT regulations apply. Thirty credits is the maximum that can be transferred into this programme.

Transition Arrangements

Applicants who have partially completed NZ Certificate in Study and Career Preparation [Level 3] or other relevant study, should discuss the Recognition of Prior Learning process with the Programme Coordinator.
