About the course
Earn your Master of Teaching and Learning to become a certified primary or secondary teacher. Explore modern education trends, guided by the latest research. Challenge traditional teaching methods to empower all your students' voices. This programme will develop your critical understanding of research-based pedagogical approaches, learning theory, inquiry skills and content knowledge to ensure you can effectively teach diverse learners in New Zealand schools. You will also gain valuable practical experience with the professional support of Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education lecturers and Mentor Teachers. This programme will provide you with a total of 80 days in the classroom, in two different schools. Papers examine teaching in the New Zealand context, evidence-based inquiry, teaching diverse learners, and curriculum design and implementation. Students complete eleven 500 level postgraduate papers (180 points). The Master of Teaching and Learning is an intensive course aimed at high achievers and requires a higher entry criteria than the Graduate Diploma in Teaching. This programme builds on the with one extra 30 point paper.
