About the course

This programme has been designed to prepare, educate and care for infants, toddlers and young children in an ECE setting. Our goal is for you to be able to communicate well with children and their respective families/whanau and other ECE educators in a multicultural setting.

PROGRAMME CONTENT INCLUDES:
- Support the development and learning of children
- Implement the principles and strands of Te Whāriki
- Legislation, regulations and organisations that support the wellbeing of children and whanau
- Understand diversity, multiculturalism, ECE philosophies, socio-cultural theories and cultural contexts of ECE services
- Beliefs, ethical values, goals and strategies to influence ECE practice and development
- Observe children and develop learning plans
- Provide care and safe practices
- Effective communication for appropriate, respectful, reciprocal and responsive relationships
- Guide the behaviour of tamariki
- Using Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori in an ECE setting

All students who wish to enrol must go through a selection interview process. Participants who meet the criteria below are able to take part in these programmes:
