About the course

Are you already working in Scaffolding Industry and want to attain suspended scaffolding Skills?

Learn the skills and theory to attain scaffolding skills in suspended scaffolding, to work in residential construction or maintenance sectors. This programme is intended for people who will be building proprietary suspended scaffolding only.


What you will learn

You will learn how to:

  • Apply safe work practices while working at heights in accordance with health and safety legislation and the Worksafe Good Practice Guidelines - Scaffolding in New Zealand.
  • Load, secure and unload proprietary suspended scaffolding equipment on commercial vehicles.
  • Lead a small team to complete proprietary suspended scaffold works.
    Inspect proprietary suspended scaffolding equipment, and erect, alter, dismantle, and inspect proprietary suspended scaffold structures, which includes bosun's chairs; and swinging stages.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and geometry to calculate imposed loads and counterweights, including factor of safety for proprietary suspended scaffold structures and supporting structures, to meet client requirements.
  • Induct users in the inspection and operation of proprietary suspended scaffolds installation.

Certificate of Competence

You will then be eligible to apply for the Scaffolding Certificate of Competence (Suspended).

Prerequisite to meet regulatory body or legislative requirements: A current workplace first aid certificate.

How will you Learn:

You will be learning at your workplace and attending block courses at Te Pukenga’s Training Provider- Tai Poutini Polytechnic

This qualification may build on the New Zealand Certificate in Scaffolding (General) (Level 3)

This qualification is a prerequisite for entry into the New Zealand Certificate in Scaffolding (Advanced) (Level 5)
