About the course
At the successful completion of this programme you will achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying. You will be then eligible to become registered Licenced Plumber, Gasfitter and Drainlayer with the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board.
The apprenticeship duration is 5 +years and is completed as a mixture of workplace (On-job), On-campus (Off-job) and online training.
How the training works
On-job
Evidence of competence is gathered at work to show your competence in a workplace setting. This evidence is signed off by your workplace verifier and sent to an assessor to mark the assessment.
Off-job
You will attend a block course at your preferred campus and complete some practical and theory learning and assessment.
Online
You will complete some online learning and assessment in preparation for your off-job campus based block courses throughout your programme.
Entry requirements
Current employment in the appropriate trade plumbing
gasfitting or drainlaying.
