Pipeline Construction & Maintenance Programme+

About the course

Have you already gained an NZQA qualification in the pipeline construction and maintenance, or equivalent area? To further upskill yourself you can now enrol into this Programme+ that gives you the option to select additional unit standards to add to your NZQA record of achievement. These could be extra elective units that you want to complete on top of your PCM programme, or it might be new compulsory unit standards that weren’t available when you completed a previous equivalent national certificate.


WHAT IS COVERED? Unit Standard selections:

• Ranging from Level 3 to 4

• Level 3 Unit Standards up to 9 credits each

• Level 4 Unit Standards up to 20 credits each.


HOW IT WORKS There is no minimum credit number, or level, as this is not a full certificate programme. It is an offering of unit standards that you can select based on the topic you want to further your skills in. When enrolling into this Programme+ you can select as many unit standards to complete as you would like. There are no maximum or minimum requirements. All unit standards available for this are completed on-job.

Entry requirements

To enroll in this Programme+ you must have completed the New Zealand Certificate (NZC) in Infrastructure Works (Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) (Level 4), or a previous equivalent qualification such as:

• Level 4 NZC in Utilities Maintenance

• Level 4 NZC in Pipe Installation

• Level 3 National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Planned & Reactive Miantenance Technician)

• Level 4 National Certificate in Water Reticulation (Supervisor)

• Level 3 National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Infrastructure Pipelaying Technician).

Te Pūkenga is the new Crown entity established to unite Institutes of Technology, Polytechnics (ITPs) and Industry Training Organisations around the country into a unified national network as part of the Government’s Reform of Vocational Education.  It is creating a network of on-job, online and on-campus learning to give learners more flexibility in what, where and how they learn.
