About the course
What is the Master of Management?
Employers and recruiters today expect a broad and strategic understanding of key business domains and the development of critical strategic thinking skills, particularly in this fast-moving, digital-led environment.
The Master of Management builds on previous undergraduate studies either in business/management or related disciplines, graduates will be equipped to become a practitioner in their specialist field.
The Master of Management programme weaves together curriculum threads of leadership and management in both culturally specific and globally relevant contexts, frameworks for understanding and tools for leading organizations undergoing change and how to apply knowledge of research to real business situations.
A specific focus of the programme is developing a bicultural dimension in Aotearoa through an understanding of Maori business and leadership models. This cross-cultural communication will give an ICL student an advantage in New Zealand as local employers seek to understand different markets both domestically and as an export.
The 60-credit applied project also provides even more solid base for any student who may wish to pursue a PhD. ICL has many active researchers at the Graduate Business School conducting research in a variety of Business Studies fields.

ICL Business School was established in 2002 by Ewen Mackenzie-Bowie as part of Academic Colleges Group. In 2007, Ewen took over the business school and incorporated it with International College of Linguistics (ICL). Reflecting the Business School’s shift to predominantly level 7, 8 and 9 programmes it was rebranded to ICL Graduate Business School.
ICL Graduate Business School is a NZQA accredited Category 1 boutique university-level business school in New Zealand, offering Master’s degrees, postgraduate and graduate diplomas in business, informatics, hospitality and tourism, and a graduate diploma in teaching early childhood education, which leads to teacher registration. While over 80% of our students are postgraduate, we also offer undergraduate diplomas in business, with pathways to university degrees.
Our language schools, located in the same building, Auckland English Academy and Bridge International College, offer you pathway courses into ICL if you need to brush up your English before you start your degree or diploma.
ICL Graduate Business School is located at the heart of New Zealand’s biggest and most diverse city, Auckland. We strive to help our students meet their academic goals, and enjoy their time whilst studying and living abroad.
