About the course

With our Sport and Recreation course you'll build your life and leadership skills while you learn more about sport and fitness.

You will learn how to create exercise programmes, about personal fitness and sports nutrition, develop your coaching skills, how to plan a sports event and grow your understanding of health and wellness for athletes.

Plus, if you are aged 16-24, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE!

This course is delivered by the New Zealand Institute of Sport – NZMA's Sport & Fitness School.

Entry requirements

Entry is open to domestic students only, on the basis of the following criteria:
• Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years and over
• A demonstrated commitment to the Sport, Fitness and Recreation area
• Be physically fit, health screening and pass a Police Security background check (where required)
• Meet the minimum requirements of the NZIS placement assessment or have NCEA Level 2 or equivalent.
