About the course

Our goal is to help you gain real world insight as you develop your Esport skills in a fun, and supportive environment.

This unique programme will guide you in the right direction and help future proof your career in the Esport industry, with practical knowledge on what it takes to become a professional gamer, develop coaching techniques to enhance individual and team gaming skills to kickstart your Esport journey.

Learn how to develop basic game design using gaming software platforms such as Unreal Engine. Explore business concepts that can turn your gaming idea into a winning business proposal and learn how you can earn income doing something you love.

You’ll even get to join forces with your classmates, set-up and run local gaming tournaments, collaborate and battle it out as you work on mastering your gaming style.

At the end of your course, you’ll be inspired to transform your love of gaming into a career as you decide your next step. With plenty of career options to choose from, you can explore your study options in animation, game development, creative media, marketing, digital innovation or even personal training.

Our Sport Courses are delivered by the New Zealand Institute of Sport – NZMA's Sport & Fitness School.

Entry requirements

  • Successful completion of NZMA Introduction to Esport programme (or equivalent level of foundational understanding of the Esport industry and NCEA level 1 or equivalent)
  • English Language /International Applicants: General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 OR equivalent under Rule 18.
  • Domestic applicants with English as a second language: must demonstrate sufficiency in English language at interview.
