About the course
Do you have a natural interest in baking, cooking, or food in general? Turn your passion into a creative career and take your skills to the next level with an industry-recognised qualification.This hands-on course will give you the knowledge and experience needed to enter the hospitality industry as a trainee baker. You will master techniques for producing, finishing, and presenting a wide range of basic and contemporary bakery items.Delivered over one semester, with full and part-time options available, you will learn in a real-life kitchen environment at our purpose-built facilities from industry-expert tutors and work together in a team to produce bakery items for sale.

Based in Hamilton, the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec), is one of the country’s largest institutes of technology. We deliver high-quality education across vocational (technical) and professional fields of study to approximately 13,000 students, across over 130 different courses.
