Safely and efficiently transport Dangerous Goods by Road
To provide students with the knowledge and skills required to lawfully, safely and efficiently transport Dangerous Goods by Road.
What you will learn
NZTA approved training course providing essential training to gain driver licence endorsement ‘D’.
The purpose of this unit standard is to specify the knowledge and skills required to safely transport Dangerous Goods by road. These knowledge and skills are also relevant to people working in the road transport industry such as loaders handling Dangerous Goods.
Trainees who complete this course will have knowledge to:
- Understand and apply driver and loader responsibilities when transporting Dangerous Goods
- Understand and explain the documentation requirements for the transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Understand and apply the requirements for packages containing Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities (DGLQ), consumer commodities, small packages, and excepted packages
- Understand and apply segregation requirements and segregate Dangerous Goods
- Understand and apply placarding requirements and placard vehicles and freight containers containing Dangerous Goods
- Identify driver actions and considerations in the event of an incident or emergency.
