About the course
This programme includes a range of practical dairy farm skills alongside the theory that will set you up for a career in dairy farming. You will watch videos and complete quizzes using the Farm4Life App and 'hub', while having your practical experience verified on a dairy farm.
This 44 weeks programme includes the NZ Certificate in Agriculture (Farming Systems) (Level 3) and the NZ Certificate in Primary Industry Operational Skills (Level 3) Specialist Equipment qualifications.
Final assessments are completed in the Farm4Life App or website.
The programme will give students the knowledge and skills to:
- Adopt a health and safety perspective when working on dairy farming tasks.
- Assist with soil and pasture management including sustainable practices to protect soil and water quality.
- Assist with dairy livestock production tasks.
- Construct and prepare fences and stock water systems, safely operate a selection of vehicles and equipment, work with and care for livestock.
- Learn about and use, new technologies, workshop carpentry and engineering tools.
