Registered Nurse Praxis: Preceptor Role Development

About the course

This course is for Registered Nurses who want to develop their skills in the assessment and teaching of undergraduate students in the clinical setting.

It is designed to build upon their current knowledge and help them in developing specific skills in precepting. These include assessing a student needs, assessment against the New Zealand Nursing Council competencies and giving constructive feedback.

The course is facilitated by a member of the Nursing Lecturer team and consists of participation in a half day workshop and then a series of written reflections.

The course takes four weeks to complete and includes 3.5 face to face hours and 4.5 hours on line.

Closer to the programme starting, learners will receive a list of course materials to purchase.  Examples of course materials could include textbooks, stationary, printing; uniforms, personal protective equipment, tools and a laptop.
