About the course

This qualification is designed to provide formal training for current employees with no qualifications in engineering, construction and architectural draughting, and to facilitate the training required for cadets employed in their respective industries. This qualification will also equip school leavers with the skills required to begin a career in design. A number of courses within the programme are also aligned with the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) Level 6 (NZDE), Diploma in Construction and the National Diploma in Architectural Technology Level 6 (NDAT), to provide a pathway for future training.

Entry requirements

Academic achievement Applicants should demonstrate an ability to succeed in tertiary study, shown by the completion of any of the following qualifications or courses of study: a. 48 or more credits at NCEA Level 1, and/or b. Equivalent NZQF Unit Standards

English language Applicants whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools or other teaching institutions is not English, are required to provide evidence of having passed such tests of English language as stipulated in Policy and Procedure English Language Proficiency.

Life skills/work experience Applicants who do not meet the academic entry criteria above may be admitted to the programme if they are able to demonstrate: a. Equivalent knowledge and skills; and/or b. Previous and relevant life skills or work experience; and/or c. Other formal or informal study such as to suggest likelihood of successful programme completion.
