About the course

The programme aims to produce graduates with a variety of skills which will assist them to fulfil the roles expected of them as Kaumatua. Students will be encouraged to have a wide range of knowledge and a variety of practical skills with regards to the broad field of Matauranga and Tikanga Maori. A typical graduate would be able to: Perform an array of Taranaki oral protocols. Understand and apply relevant Taranaki tikanga. Discuss selected Taranaki Maori history and traditions. Discuss current social and political issues. Display an appropriate level of oral language proficiency

Entry requirements

Applicants will be verfied as a kaumatua by a selection group which will consist of representatives of Te Reo o Taranaki and the Pukeariki kaumatua Kaunihera
