About the course

Study towards your Qualified Deck Crew (QDC) certificate of proficiency, for free*Take the first step in your maritime career and gain the licence required to operate as safe and effective deck crew.This programme is ideal if you are newly employed in the maritime industry working on a vessel or have access to a vessel. If you are an employer, this programme will compliment your new employee induction training. It will include emergency procedures to help with the safety of the vessel and it's crew members, including basic extinguisher training, sea survival skills and the completion of the marine radio licence. You will be able to train for your ticket while being employed, so you can learn while you are on the water. You will complete a MNZ approved Training Record Book (TRB) as part of this programme. You will be prepared with the skills and knowledge to work under supervision on a range of commercial and passenger vessels less than 24 metres in length, operating in restricted and near coastal waters of New Zealand. This qualification combined with sea time and Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) requirements leads to a MNZ certificate: Qualified Deck Crew certificate of proficiency.
